Mildred Cain

Mildred Cain, age 93, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, MS. She was born in Alabama and was a long time resident of Lamar County where retired after working 25 years with John’s Drug Store in Purvis, MS. Mildred was a dedicated woman of faith and was a faithful member of the Church of God.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, George Cain, Jr.; sons, David Cain, and Larry Cain; parents, Percy Bowman and Mary Bowman; sisters, Ilava Rouse, and Mae Lois Collier; and brothers, Lloyd Bowman, and Raymond Bowman. Her memory will be forever cherished by her daughter, Jo Ann Blackwell (Billy) of Lumberton, MS; her son, Gerald Richard “Ricky” Cain (Diane) of Purvis; a sister, Elaine Jenkins of Memphis, TN; six grandchildren, Scott Blackwell, Steven Blackwell, Casey Cain, Chad Cain, Phillip Cain, and Carey Shows; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at Freedom Worship Center (Purvis Church of God) in Purvis where family will receive friends for visitation from 9:00 AM until service time. Reverend Victor Stewart will officiate and burial will follow at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery assisted by Steven Blackwell, Matthew Blackwell Casey Cain, Chad Cain, Will Cain, and Phillip Cain as pallbearers.
