Funeral service for Wyatt Wesley Leinart, 91, of Lufkin will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Gipson Funeral Home with Jay Zeleskey officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Wyatt was born in Terrell, TX on January 25, 1933, son to the late Velma Virginia (Langston) and Cade Wesley Leinart. He passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at a local hospital.
Wyatt Leinart graduated from Terrell High School in 1951, and attended A & M University. After one year at A & M, he joined the Army and served at Camp Hanford in Washington, after discharge he graduated from the University of North Texas in 1958 where he received a BBA degree.
He worked for the FDIC in Houston and began a banking career in 1960. He went to work for Kurth Investment Corporation in 1968 and later became co-trustee of the Ernest L. Kurth, Jr. Charitable Foundation which he served 28 years. He received great satisfaction for the many generous gifts and deeds of the work of the Foundation.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lufkin where he served on the Board of Stewards. He joined the Lufkin Host Lions Club in January 1961 and was a life member where he served as President and was Secretary-Treasurer for over 54 years. He was a Master Key Holder and served as District Chairman in several capacities. He was on the Steering Committee that founded Angelina College. He spent 25 years as director of the Wilson McKewen Rehabilitation Center. He was a longtime member of the Salvation Army Board where he served twice as Chairman. He was past President of the Humane Society, past Treasurer of the Chamber of Commerce, and a member of Crown Colony Country Club and Pine Island Hunting Club.
He is survived by his son Brad W. Leinart of Little Rock, Arkansas, son-in-law Tod Six of Farmers Branch, Texas, grandchildren Andrea Six and husband Joshua Lagunez of Dallas, Ashley Six of Houston, Texas, sisters-in-law Dinah Bearden of Plano and Letra Majors of Tyler and nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Sandra K. Leinart of 52 years, daughter, Lisa Leinart Six, sister, Anita Faubion and brother-in-law, Wayne Majors.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
