Services for William “Matt” Williams, 50, of Lufkin, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 18, 2013 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Horace Fletcher officiating. Eulogy will be offered by Jeff Buchannan. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mr. Williams was born March 12, 1963 in Furth, Germany. He passed away Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Houston Hospice.
Mr. Williams loved his family, especially his wife and son “C. W.”. He was a caring, energetic, and industrious man who enjoyed repurposing things like tractors to make them work. He was a Nascar fan and enjoyed fishing and duck hunting. He loved animals, especially his black labs, Blade and Gunner and his Cockatiel, Budweiser. Mr. Williams gave his life to Christ at the age of 13. He was a member of Lufkin’s First Baptist Church and a member of the Pines Gun Club.
Survivors include his wife, Maleia Williams of Lufkin; son, Christopher Williams of Lufkin; parents, Bill and Dorris Williams of Lufkin; brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Debbie Williams and their children Emma and Joshua of Coronado, California; uncle and aunt, Ken and Anita Howle; mother-in-law, Carolyn Murray of Lufkin; brothers-in-law, Anthony, Jeff and Willie Murray; sister-in-law, Kathleen Olivarez; and a number of uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.
Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dewey and Drueceil Howle and George and Pearl Williams; aunt, LaJoan Kouri; and uncles, Gene Howle, George C. Williams and E. L. (Skee) Williams.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
