Services for William Earl Tucker, 72, of Lufkin, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 8, 2017 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Nathan Pannell officiating. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Houston National Cemetery.
Mr. Tucker was born April 13, 1945 in Abilene, Texas, the son of the late Karlyn and Frankie Lee Tucker. He passed away Saturday, November 4, 2017 in a local hospital.
Mr. Tucker was a devoted father, grandfather and brother. He was a truck driver. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War. He was awarded 3 Bronze Service Stars, a Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and a Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry. He was an expert rifleman and was an E-5 Sergeant when he was honorably discharged. Mr. Tucker enjoyed fishing and traveling.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law. Kimberly and Pedro Moreno of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, David and Stephanie Tucker of Huntington; grandchildren, Kendra Moreno, Jasmin Moreno and Logan Tucker; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Marie Tucker; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Tucker was preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle Tucker; brother, Lee Tucker; and sister, Fern Reed.
Pallbearers will be David Tucker, David Riley, Mason Smith, Curtis Wilson Jr., Pedro Moreno and Josh Clark.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
