Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at First Presbyterian Church, 607 Jane Way, officiated by Dr. Brian Wiggins. Graveside services will follow at 11:30 a.m. in the Garden of Memories Memorial Chapel.
Bill attended school in Wichita, Kansas, and attended Wichita State
College. He honorably served in the United State Army Air Corps during
World War II, with a P-38 squadron, stationed in the Pacific.
Bill married Loretta LaWanda Ray on December 22, 1949, in Wichita, Kansas. They moved to Lufkin, Texas in June 1954. He was the office administrator for Pluss-Tex Poultry, now Pilgrimʼs Pride, for more than 2 decades. He also worked for William George Company. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lufkin where he served
as Elder and Deacon for many years, and served on numerous
committees. He was on the founding board of Pine Crest Retirement
Home.
Bill Miner was always encouraging to those around him, forever ready with a friendly, kind word and positive outlook. He was loved by everyone at Emerald Hills Retirement Center, and will be missed by all.
Bill is survived by his son, Neil and daughter-in-law; son Eric and daughter-in-law; three grandchildren, one great granddaughter; sister, Fern Bower, of Atlanta, Georgia.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
