Services for Vivian Jean Cooper Sifford, 68, of Pollok, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 18, 2015 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Shaun Sifford, Reverend M. H. Shubert and Reverend Trevor Kelley officiating. Interment will follow in the Pollok Cemetery.
Vivian was born May 18, 1946. She passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 4:06 a.m. in Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her family.
Vivian was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who was cherished by her family. She retired from Lufkin State School. Vivian loved spending time with her family and friends. She was someone who was always there to listen, encourage and love those around her.
Vivian attended several churches, including O’Quinn Baptist Church and New Life UPC. She recently moved to Lake Charles, Louisiana, where she attended Grand Lake Apostolic Church. She was baptized in the beautiful name of Jesus on October 11, 2014.
Survivors include her daughter, Melinda Doss of Lake Charles, Louisiana; sons and daughters-in-law, James and Cotonya Sifford of Georgetown and Shaun and Nicole Sifford of Teague; son, Steven Sifford of Llano; grandchildren, Crystal Miranda, Ashley and Lance Porter, Haley Miranda, Johnathan Kennedy, Charlie and Caitlyn Sifford, Chloe, Carson and Caden Sifford, Brandon and Misty Rainwater, Kody Collier and Dustyn Sifford; great-grandchildren, Noah Porter and his brother to be; sisters, Loyce Carr, Teresa Phillips, and Jeanne Drake; brother, Gerald Drake; and a number of other family members and friends.
Vivian was preceded in death by her fathers, Grady L. Cooper and Jewel D. Drake; and her mother, Mable Bruneaze Drake and husband, Charles William Sifford.
Pallbearers will be James Sifford, Shaun Sifford, Steven Sifford, Frank Miranda, Jr., Mike Thigpen, Brian Thigpen, and Chris Lamon.
Junior pallbearers will be Dustyn Sifford, Johnathan Kennedy, and Carson Sifford.
Honorary pallbearers will be Caden Sifford, Noah Porter, and Charlie Sifford.
Vivian’s family wishes to express sincere thanks to all the professional medical staff at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital for taking special care of our Mom, MawMaw, Sister, Aunt, and Friend.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
