Virginia Evelyn Tullos, daughter of Kenneth and Vera Purvis, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 10, 2018. Evelyn Tullos was born in Henderson, Texas on February 12, 1929 and lived in Lufkin most of her life. Evelyn was married to Howard “Hokey” Tullos. She was a homemaker and mother of four who enjoyed gardening, sewing, fishing, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a long-time member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Lynn Repp and husband Allen of Lufkin; her daughter, Mae Ellen Tullos of Huntington; 7 grandchildren, Roylyn Smith of Lufkin, Kenneth D. Smith of Lufkin, Brandon Barnhart of McKinney, Travis Rayburn and wife Amy of Dodge, Tracie Henderson & husband Joshua of Lufkin, Christal Iguess and husband Nate of Lufkin, Coty Basham and wife Jennifer of Huntington; 7 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Vera Purvis; her son, Kenneth “Kenny” Tullos; her husband, Howard Tullos; her daughter, Sandra Rayburn; and her great grandson, Colton Rayburn.
Services for Evelyn will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2018 in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park, 5205 S. First Street, in the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
