

Wednesday, May 20, 2015 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Van Johnson,
Pastor of Herty Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in the
Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mrs. Love was born April 27, 1922 in Deadwood, Texas, the daughter of the late
Hattie (LaGrone) and Cole Cross Ray. She passed away Sunday morning, May 17,
2015 in a local nursing facility.
Mrs. Love resided in Lufkin most of her life. During World War II, she worked
for Lufkin Industries making ammunition crates for the Army. Later she worked
as general manager for a local BBQ restaurant (Saddlers Smoke House). She also
worked at Ray's Drive In for many years and was a member of Herty Baptist Church
for 60 years. Mrs. Love, lovingly known as Aunt Fae to all who knew her, was a
member of the V.F.W. and D.A.V. Auxiliary. Aunt Fae loved to travel with her
husband, visiting Tennessee, Alaska, New England, and many places in between.
She loved working in her yard and growing flowers, and if you knew what was good
for you, you better not cut one down, even by accident. She also loved to play
"42" with family and friends.
Survivors include her husband of 28 years, Willam C. (Bill) Love of Lufkin;
sister, Odell Plummer of Rivercrest; sister-in-law, Gwen Ray of Corrigan;
stepson, Allen E. Love of Tennessee; stepdaughters, Barbara Ann Poston of North
Carolina, Michelle M. Underwood of Tennessee, and Kenna Sue Harris of Tennessee;
brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob and Jo Lee Love; sister-in-law and
brother-in-law, Linda and Robert Cantu; and numerous nephews, nieces, relatives
and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Love was preceded in death by her first
husband, Bryant Merriman; son, Jacky Merriman; brothers and sisters-in-law, J.
C. and Opal Ray, and Arthur (Preacher) and Helen Ray; and brother, Edward Ray.
Pallbearers will be Nathan Ray, Chris Ray, Bobby Castleberry, Lamar Nerren,
Mitchell Parrott, and Gary Wayne Seaman.
Honorary pallbearers will be Billy W. Ray, Raymond Seaman, Pete Ray, David Ray,
Ron Horseman, and Bob Castleberry.
Memorial contributions in Mrs. Love's memory may be made to the V.F.W.
Auxiliary, % V.F.W. Post 1836, Lufkin, TX.
The family will receive friends and family from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday
evening at the funeral home.
