Thomas Charles Devaney

Thomas Charles Devaney, 80, of Lufkin, was born September 23, 1930 in Central Falls, Rhode Island, the son of the late Yvonne (Masson) and Thomas Francis Devaney. He passed away Monday, August 8, 2011 in San Diego, California.

Mr. Devaney was a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a retired Master Chief from the United States Navy and served 2 tours in Vietnam. He loved the weather in Southern California and spent much time there. He played on a senior league softball team and worked out at the gym until the age of 75.

Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Ted and Lisa Devaney of Lufkin and Tam and Shannon Thai of San Antonio; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Curt Wright of Mississippi; grandchildren, Zach Devaney, Tabitha Thai, Emily Thai, Hailey Plough and Amber Weatherly; several great-grandchildren; sister, Claire Pournaras of Rhode Island; and nieces and nephews, Roger Lamoureux, Kathleen Moss, Thomas Lamoureux and Karen Trofi.

Graveside services for Mr. Devaney will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 13, 2011 in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park. with Father Francis O'Dowd officiating.
