Silvino Alvarez Tovar

Mass of the Christian Burial for Silvino Alvarez Tovar, 84, of Lufkin, will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 29, 2017 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with Father Gavin Vaverek, celebrant. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with the family receiving friends and loved ones from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Mr. Tovar was born September 12, 1932 in Mexico, the son of the late Maria (Alvarez) and Gabriel Tovar. He passed away Saturday, June 24, 2017 in a local hospital.

Mr. Tovar loved his family. He was employed at Pilgrim’s Pride for 35 years. He enjoyed working in his garden and with wood and leather. He enjoyed making custom saddles. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Felipa Tovar; sons, Carlos Tovar and wife Gisela, Juan Tovar and wife Patricia, Jeronimo Tovar and wife Diana, Blas Tovar and wife Laura and Epifanio Tovar and wife Claudia; daughters, Antonia Tovar and husband Luis and Juanita Rodriguez and husband David; brothers, Alberto Tovar, Norberto Tovar and Felipe Tovar; sisters, Eulogia Tovar and Bernarda Tovar; grandchildren, Carlos Tovar Jr., Stephanie Tovar, Gabriel Tovar, Rodolfo Bermudez, Kristy Romero, David Rodriguez Jr., Leonardo Rodriguez, Juan Rodriguez, Axel Tovar, Joel Tovar, Jeronimo Tovar Jr., Gael Tovar, Arath Tovar, Adriel Tovar, Juan Tovar Jr., Johnny Lee Tovar, Crystal Tovar, Rosio Roman, Miguel Tovar, Jessica De La Cruz, Martha Gonzales, Blas Adrian Tovar, Christian Tovar, Guadalupe Tovar, Perla Tovar, and Crystal Ochoa; and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Tovar was preceded in death by his sisters, Andrea Tovar and Marcela Tovar; and granddaughter, Carla Itsell Tovar,

Pallbearers will be Carlos Tovar, Juan Tovar, Jeronimo Tovar, Blas Tovar, Epifanio Tovar, Norberto Tovar, Alberto Tovar, and David Rodriguez.
