Services for Shirley Mae Turner, 87, of Lufkin, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2017 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday. A private family interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mrs. Turner was born May 13, 1929 in Keltys, Texas. She passed away Friday, January 20, 2017 in Lufkin, Texas.
Mrs. Turner was a former secretary for Mr. Kurth at the Angelina Lumber Company. She was an active member of the First Congregational Methodist Church, teaching Sunday school and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Turner was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was also a staunch supporter of the Rainbow Girls of Lufkin, Texas.
Survivors include her husband, Hubert William Turner; daughters, Shari Hopp of Jones, Oklahoma; Tammy Brown of Moody, Texas; Micki Chaney of Mt. Enterprise, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Shirley Thomas Dickerson; mother, Claircie Fannie Dickerson; and sister, Nita LaVellee Dickerson.
The family also would like to thank the staff of Castle Pines Health & Rehabilitation Center for the loving care shown to her.
Services have been placed in the trust of Gipson Funeral Home.
