Memorial services for Ronnie Earl Capps, 59, of Quinlan, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 13, 2017 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Eric Barton officiating. Inurnment services will follow in the Fielder Memorial Cemetery.
Ronnie was born September 17, 1957 at Stevens Park Hospital in Dallas, Texas. He passed away Saturday, September 2, 2017 in Tyler, Texas while under Hospice care.
His favorite colors were Red, White, and Blue and he liked Eagles. His favorite flags were the American and Dixie. One of his most loved foods was Chinese (which he was very good at making). Well, he was good at cooking, period! One of his favorite holidays was Halloween because adults could dress up and act silly and stupid. He also enjoyed the 4th of July celebrating our freedom and time with his friends and family.
Some of his favorite places that he lived were Corpus Christi, Texas and Mesquite, Texas. In Corpus he surfed with a friend when he was in Jr. High. In Mesquite he liked living in the country and enjoyed spending time with family.
His favorite music was the Lynard Skynard Band and Bon Jovi. He also said that his hero was Hank Williams Jr.
In his pastime, Ronnie liked motorcycles, race cars, hunting and fishing. If there was a race going on he was there to see the action or wanted to be. He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed camping and catching them bass. He used to do a lot of hunting, especially deer but when the day came that he worked on a deer reserve he found a new appreciation for them and said he could never hunt down another one again and he never did.
Ronnie was a big kid at heart. He loved kids and later in life had one of his own. Even though he did not get to see her on a regular basis, he always wanted her to know how much he loved her. He was very proud of her. At Christmas time he enjoyed taking the family around Lufkin to the community Christmas light show and the decorated Rudolph in the Lufkin mall parking lot. Those were the days!
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ethel Estelle Capps; father, Milton Capps, and a sister, Esther Louise Capps Gibson.
Ronnie is survived by his sister, Donna Crawford of Tyler, TX; daughter, Danielle JoAnn Capps of Huntington, TX; and many nieces, nephews, friends and family.
We know God has another plan for Ronnie now as he became ill with bone cancer and fought it until his last breath. He no longer has to suffer the pain anymore and is free. From all of your friends and family, we love and miss you Ronnie! We will see you again soon.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like any monetary donations to be provided to Fielders Cemetery, 9472 FM 326, Lufkin, TX 75901.
