Robert E. Cartlidge, 75, of Lufkin, TX, passed away on November 5, 2024. Born December 31, 1948, he was a proud graduate of Port Neches Groves High School (1967) and earned a Computer Programming and Operations Degree from Texas Institute Dallas. Robert served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1968 to 1978, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. He later retired from Diboll ISD.
Robert was deeply involved in his community, holding memberships with the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons and the Lufkin Marine Corps League. He had a love for motorcycles, music, and spending time with his family and friends. He shared 46 wonderful years of marriage with his wife, Wendy Lee Cartlidge.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Edgar Cartlidge; his mother, Ruby Lucille Smith; brothers David Lee Cartlidge and Billy Wayne Cartlidge; half-brother Frank Edgar Cartlidge Jr.; and half-sister Hazel Marie Gilbert.
Robert is survived by his wife Wendy Cartlidge; children, Kimberly Denise Harper and Robert Edgar Cartlidge Jr.; grandchildren, Nicole Rene Franchois, Destiny Brianne Hickingbottom, and Robert Edgar Cartlidge III; great-grandchildren Aubree, Jackson, Bennett, and Preston; siblings, Michael Lynn Cartlidge Sr., Curtis Ray Cartlidge, and half-sister Judith Cartlidge; and other family members. His beloved buddy, Harley, will miss him dearly.
Visitation will be held Friday 11/8/24 from 4-7 PM at Gipson Funeral Home with Funeral Services to follow on Saturday 11/9/24 at 2 PM. Robert will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park in Nacogdoches.
Pallbearers are Michael Cartlidge, Curtis Cartlidge, Robert Cartlidge Jr., Barry Richardson, Raymond Wiggins, John Vaughn, Eddie Harper, and Clay Powell.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Shriners Hospitals for Children and the Patriot Gaurd Riders.
Robert will be dearly missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
