Rita Ann Chamblee

Mrs. Chamblee was born June 25, 1949 in Lufkin, Texas. She passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at the Castle Pines Health and Rehabilitation.

Rita was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. In her spare time, she loved gardening, playing 42 and pokeno. Mrs. Chamblee was a lifelong resident of Huntington and she served 39 years before retiring from Huntington I.S.D.

Survivors include sons, James, Donald, and Ricky Chamblee all of Huntington, TX; grandchildren, Ray Chamblee and wife, Crystal of Splendora, TX, Mason Chamblee, and Jackson Chamblee; great-grandson, Cooper Chamblee; sisters-in-law, Marlene Chamblee, Elizabeth Thornton, and Clara Lovett; nieces and nephews, Jeanette Schwab, Paul Thornton, Monica Zimmermann, Randy Thornton, Sherry Thornton, Gene Thornton, Jr., Nita Brashear, Scott Thornton, Jay Thornton, Kerwin Smith, Sharon Berry, and Marleisha Jacob; and special friends, Rose Pinner, Rita Feagins, Donna Hightower, and Nancy Hales.

She is preceded in death by parents; husband, Don Chamblee; brothers, Gene Thornton, Rolwyn Thornton, Troy Thornton, and Clyde Homister; brother-in-law, Wayne Chamblee; and sisters-in-law, Bobbie Smith and Johnnie Mae Thornton.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
