Mr. Luera was born December 2, 1945 in Roma, Texas, the son of the late Sofia (Garcia) and Ramiro Luera, Sr. He passed away Thursday, September 28, 2023 in a Houston hospital.
Mr. Luera was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was retired from the City of Lufkin as a truck driver. He enjoyed playing the accordion, boxing and fishing. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Paula Luera of Diboll; son, Jesse Luera of Diboll; daughters, Sandra Reyes and husband Faustino of Diboll, Sonya Sarmiento and husband Feliberto of Lufkin, Patricia Cazares and husband Antonio of Corrigan and Jenny Childs and husband Jim of Corrigan; grandchildren, Jaquilyn, Rafael, Joe, Mike, Gino, Ashley, Eddie, Michelle, Cole, Humberto, Victor, Erika, Heather, Patricia, Adolf, Jessica and Selena; 43 great-grandchildren; brother, Oscar Luera; sisters, Linda Cabrera and Janie Andaverde; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Luera was preceded in death by his grandsons, Olegario Martinez, Jr. and Ramiro Martinez; brother, Adelmo Luera; and sister, Gloria Meijia.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday afternoon at the funeral home.
