Funeral services for Rachel Sue Mangum, 92, of Lufkin, Texas will be held at 11AM Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Gipson Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Young officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home on Tuesday prior to the service.
Mrs. Mangum was born January 17, 1932, in Woodville, Texas, daughter of the late Laura Essie (Nicks) and Iverson Elton Jordan. She passed away Thursday, March 28, 2024, in Castle Pines Health and Rehabilitation in Lufkin.
Rachel was a loving wife and mother. She was faithful to her church, Fairview Baptist Church, and her family. She graduated from Spurger High School. Rachel enjoyed working with children, working in the church nursery and for Lufkin ISD food service.
Survivors include her son, Preston Mangum of Lufkin; and daughter, Melody Palmore and husband David of Lufkin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry H. Mangum; 3 brothers; and 1 sister.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Fairview Cemetery Fund, 6348 FM 58, Lufkin, TX.
