Services for Michael Andrew Crippen of Pollok, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 2015 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Keith Bickley officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Wells.
Michael Andrew Crippen was born on October 8, 1949 in Lufkin, Texas to J. N. and Virginia (Allen) Crippen. He passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at the age of 65 years old at his home in Pollok.
Mike was a welder for many years. He started out at a young age working for Brown and Root as a rig hand. He was a member of the Welders 798 Union. For many years he worked overseas for McDermott International. Among the countries he worked in includes The North Sea, Iran, Trinidad, England, The Philippines, Egypt, Singapore, Norway, Belgium and Holland. In 1993, he established his own business, “Crippen Trucking”, in which he drove one of his log trucks until he retired in 2011. Once he retired, he lived between his home in Pollok and his beach home in Crystal Beach. He enjoyed being retired and spending time with Joyce and the family at the beach. Mike attended Pollok Baptist Church and enjoyed Sunday school.
Survivors include his wife of 46 ½ years, Joyce Crippen; daughters, Michelle Brown and Monica Hill, both of Pollok; grandchildren, Heather Snowden and Mikayla Hill of Pollok; great-grandchildren, Jay and Hunter Snowden of Pollok; father and mother-in-law, Lonnie and Myrtle Grumbles of Wells; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marie Luce of Lufkin, Sheila Thacker of Lufkin, Robert and Lisa Sherrard of Pollok and Charles and Betty Choat of Texas City; uncle and aunt, Robert and Nell Allen of Allentown.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents; grandchild, Fleurie Grace Crippen; brother and sister-in-law, Derrell and Billie Thacker; sister-in-law, Shirley Sessions; brother-in-law, Ervin Luce; and nephews, Richie Luce and Bradley Sherrard.
Pallbearers include Robert Sherrard, Rex Luce, Jason Thacker, Chris Newberg, Brian Oliver and Lonnie Grumbles.
