Melvyn Thomas Lane

Memorial services for Melvyn Thomas Lane, 61, of Lufkin, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 9, 2014 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. John Greene and Bro. Robert McClelland officiating.

Mr. Lane was born January 5, 1953 in Kirbyville, Texas, the son of the late Ali Faye (Bice) and Thomas Floyd Lane.

Mr. Lane was employed with Angelina College in the maintenance department for 26 years. He was a long-time member of Harmony Hill Baptist Church, where he was a greeter. He enjoyed going to Branson, Missouri, loved Mickey Gilley, and was a big Elvis fan. He was loved by many, and lived his life to the fullest.

Survivors include his sister and brother-in-law, Linda and David Pearson of Ft. Worth; sister, Donna Latham of Lufkin; nieces, Pamela Mackey and husband Gregory of Ft. Worth and Stephanie Pearson of Houston; 2 great-nieces; and 2 great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Lane was preceded in death by his niece, Melissa Hardy.
