Funeral service for Mary McCann Stewart, 96, of The Woodlands, Texas will be held at 1PM on Friday, October 18, 2024, at Gipson Funeral Home. Rev. David Lindwall of The Woodlands Methodist Church will officiate. Mary will be laid to rest at Huntington Cemetery.
Mrs. Stewart was born August 19, 1928, in Palestine, Texas, daughter of the late Effie Ulayla (Lipscomb) and William Frances McCann. She passed away Sunday, October 13, 2024 in The Woodlands surrounded by her loved ones.
Mary loved her children and grandchildren and was a perfect example of a proper southern lady. She enjoyed music and sang with the senior group, “Goldeniers”, and in the Chancellor Choir. She was a former Methodist board member and enjoyed volunteering at The Woodlands Methodist Church.
Survivors include daughters, Mary Jacqueline Mason and husband, Stephen of Cass County, and Martha Jean Fleury and husband, Todd Fleury of Spring; grandchildren, Joshua Appleton Waters and Sara Waters, Dr. Kati Elizabeth Giorlando and Christopher Giorlando, Michael Tyler Waters and Marisol Montano, Brandon Stewart Fleury, Kellie Triplett-Fleury, Connor Jack Fleury, Caitlin Fleury, and Taylor Elizabeth Fleury; 2 great-grandsons; sister, Wanda Bing Thompson; sister-in-law, Vera McCann; and numerous other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lt. Colonel U.S. Airforce, Reserves Retired, Jack Lamar Stewart; and brothers, William Darwin McCann and James Weldon McCann.
Pallbearers will be Josh Waters, Tyler Waters, Brandon Fleury, Connor Fleury, Chris G., and Rickey Booth.
Honorary pallbearers will be Todd William Fleury, Stephen Mason, Greg McCann, Mike McCann, Steve McCann, Gene Douglass Stewart, Jimmy McCann, Chase Goodnight, and Max Cage.
The family will receive friends from noon to 1:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
