Mary Beth Fitzsimmons

Services for Mary Beth Fitzsimmons, 92, of Huntington, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2015 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Darryl Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Treadwell Cemetery.

Mrs. Fitzsimmons was born December 15, 1922 in Huntington, Texas, the daughter of the late Loncie (Havard) and Hugh Frank Russell.

She passed away Thursday, May 21, 2015 in a Huntington nursing facility.

She was an ICU nurse for 18 years in Corpus Christi and for 20 years at Lufkin’s Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1988. In her late 70’s and early 80’s, she loved visiting and always said, “I’m going to take care of the “old” people”. Her faith was unwavering and she abounded in compassion. She was a rock in the community and for her family. She was a member of Huntington’s First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, Robert H. and Janice Westberry and Jeffery J. Westberry; daughter, Ann Speights; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandsons; and nephew, Danny Wisnowski.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Russell and Loncie Russell Brown; husbands, Thomas Westberry and Merle Fitzsimmons; sons, Gary Tom Westberry and Phillip Westberry; and two sisters, Juanita Fuller and Joe Dell Cotton.

Pallbearers will be Robert Westberry, Thomas Westberry, Jr., Robbie Westberry, Timothy Westberry, Stephen King and Keith Basey.

Memorial contributions may be made to Harbor Hospice, 517 Gaslight Blvd, Lufkin, TX 75904.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service at Gipson Funeral Home.
