Maria Marcos Ibarra

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 24, 2010 for Maria Marcos Ibarra (Betancourt) at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with Reverend Victor A. Hamon officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with the family receiving friends and loved ones from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Ms. Ibarra, 75, of Diboll, was born March 21, 1935 in Valparaiso, Zacatecas. She passed away Friday, November 19, 2010 in a local hospital. She was a devoted mother, enjoyed gardening, cooking for her family, and going to church. She also enjoyed knitting and embroidery. Ms. Ibarra was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Jose Jesus and Veronica Herrera and Lico and Alicia Herrera, all of Lufkin; daughters and sons-in-law, Bertha and Jesus Aldava, Lucila and Manuel Lopez, Loly and Victor H. Garcia, Maria C. and Felipe D. Lopez, and Martha and Antonio Tagle, all of Lufkin; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters, Guadalupe Gonzalez, Herminia Acevedo, Concepcion Rangel, Teresa Acevedo and Zenaida Escobedo; and many other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lidia Betancourt; father, Pedro Ibarra; granddaughter, Mia Nicole Herrera; brother, Avelino Ibarra; nephew, Benito Gonzalez Sr.; and great-nephew, Valente Gonzalez.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Victor H. Garcia, Jr., Rolando Gonzalez, Matias Martinez, Javier DeJesus Martinez, Angel Puente, and Jesus Aldava, Jr.
