Margaret Marie Nelson

Margaret Marie Nelson, 86, passed away peacefully at her home in Diboll, TX on April 10, 2025. Born on December 27, 1938, in Tahoka, TX, she was the cherished daughter of Gladys Pauline (Mason) and John T. Henderson. Margaret is now at peace, reunited with her loved ones, including her parents, her beloved husband Robert Lee Nelson, her siblings Johnnie T. Henderson, Sue Haley, Joe Henderson, Frank Henderson, and Cassie Potts, as well as her children Pamela Sue Bruton, Ronnie Lee Nelson, and Ricky Lee Nelson, and her grandson Brandon Basset.

Margaret's legacy continues through her surviving children, Johnny Lee Nelson and his wife Dania Nelson, Donnie Lee Nelson, and Debra Dianne Nelson, along with her grandchildren, Natasha Bruton, Shanelle Bruton, Leeland Bassett, Maddison Nelson and Jared Nelson and great-grandchildren Savanna Bassett, Charlie Bassett, Grayson Bassett, Hagen Lee Wright, Raine Wharton, and Maverick Wharton, who were blessed by her love and care throughout her life. Margaret's unwavering devotion to her faith and family was evident in everything she did. Her hope in teaching others the importance of caring for one another was a testament to her nurturing spirit.

Known for her deep love of Elvis and gospel music, Margaret's favorite color was green, and she found joy in reading. Above all, she was a loving soul who touched the lives of everyone she met. Alongside raising her own children, Margaret operated a home daycare and later worked as a Dorm Mom at Wayland Baptist University. Many of the children she cared for in her daycare later became residents of the dorms she oversaw, and they fondly remember her nurturing spirit.

We will be holding a graveside service to honor Margaret's life on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Gaines County Cemetery in Seagraves, Texas. Serving as pallbearers are Frank Abbl, Carrol Potts, Jared Nelson, Joe Henderson, Hagen Wright, Tomi Kouth.
