Lue B. Murray, 92, of Lufkin (formerly of Crockett}, was born January 14, 1919 in Crockett, Texas, the son of the late Ola (Buford) and Frank Murray. He passed away Saturday, January 15, 2011 in a local hospital.
Mr. Murray was a retired Master Sergeant with the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict and World War II. He was a member of the civil service and the Shriner's Club, and was a recipient of a purple heart. He enjoyed being with his family, watching sports and loved to cook.
Survivors include his son, Lloyd Murray; son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Barbara Murray; daughter and son-in-law, Myra and James Ferguson; grandchildren, Brittany, Joshua, Christopher, Jamie, Jerry and Sandra; numerous great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Elma and Abbott Hargraves; special friend, Jo Harber; and a number of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Murray was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia May Murray; daughter, Donna Louise Edmonson; 2 brothers; and 1 sister.
Pallbearers will be Travis Parker, James Ferguson, Roger Pool, Al Hargraves, and Abbott Hargraves.
Services for Mr. Murray will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 19, 2011 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Jim McDonald officiating. Interment will follow in the Porter Springs Cemetery in Crockett.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
