Lila Mae Hambrick Strain

Lila Mae Strain, 85, of Lufkin, was born September 15, 1924 in Angelina County, Texas, the daughter of the late Birdie (Cryer) and Nick Hambrick. She passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2010 in a Nacogdoches hospital.

Mrs. Strain was devoted to her family. Her husband, family and church came first in her life. Her children and grandchildren were her world. She wasraised in the Beulah Community and married at the age of 14 years. She worked side by side with her husband in many operations as well as in managing the Hawkins Hunting Club for 35 years. She enjoyed the outdoors and always enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching birds. Mrs. Strain was a member of Jubilee Christian Centerof Nacogdoches.

She is survived by her daughter, Christine Langford of Lufkin; sons and daughters-in-law, John L. and Jackie Strain of Lufkin and Chet and Angie Strain of Nacogdoches; grandchildren, Wade Moore, Nicki Krueger, Jayan Porter, Johnathan Strain, Cody Strain, Shelby Strain and Bailey Strain; great-grandchildren, Trey, Blake, Grant, Deuce, Chelsey, and Jillian; brother and sister-in-law, J. T. and Shirley Hambrick of Lufkin; sisters, Florine McClendon of Lufkin and Betty Jo Morris of West Monroe, LA; and a number of nieces, nephews and other family members.

Mrs. Strain was preceded in death by her husband, C. T. (Thermon) Strain in 1996.

Pallbearers will be Gaylon McClendon, Roy Neal McClendon, Mark Morris, Greg Porter, Hoss Stanaland and Ricky White.

Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Shepherd, Donnie Puckett, Billy Patton, Dewayne Krueger, Ken Reeves, Kent Henson, Alfred Hambrick and Curtis Langford.

Services for Mrs. Strain will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Chet Strain and Jesse Creel officiating. Interment will follow in the Grimes Cemetery

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
