Lee Maxwell Sutton lived his early life in the rolling wheat fields of Kansas, finishing high school at Arnold, Kansas in the 1936. He married his high school sweetheart, Doris E. Luckey on August 2, 1937 in Dodge City, Kansas. Early on he held various jobs from working on the gas pipelines in the Midwest, to driving a bulk gas & oil delivery truck for his father-in-law, to farming - his real desire. Not being successful as a farmer, he moved his young family in April of 1940 to the timbered forests of Oregon and in September of 1940 started his lifelong work history in the Plywood Industry. During these years they had 3 children, two boys and a girl, born in 1939, 1944 and 1947. As he advanced his plywood career he moved several times within the state of Oregon. While his vocation was tied to the wood products industry, on August 17,1955 his avocation became that of a Bible Student and minister of the Good News about Jehovah God and His Kingdom-this continued to Lee’s death.
In the late 1960’s Lee moved his family into the Southern US as a part of what would be the ground floor of the developing Pine Forests plywood industry.
After his first wife’s death he married again, this time to Mildred Leftridge of Florence, South Carolina. They were married for 10 years until her death. Then due to failing physical health he agreed to move to and live in Lufkin, Texas with his daughter and son-in-law.
Lee enjoyed reciting little poems he learned and retained to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved traveling, tinkering and most of all being outdoors. Reading and talking to people particularly about the Bible was a constant feature for him to the end.
