Services for Kenneth “Homey” Edwards, 67, of Lufkin, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 1, 2015 in Dunn Chapel Church of Christ in Lufkin, with Bro. Bob Fenley officiating. Interment will follow in Largent Cemetery.
Mr. Edwards was born February 7, 1948 in Lufkin, the son of Hallie (Sims) Edwards and the late J. C. Edwards, and passed away July 29, 2015 in Lufkin.
He worked in construction as a profession, but he was a jack-of-all-trades and could do anything in construction and anything else one asked him to do. He loved fishing and hunting. He was a good Christian man and a member of Dunn Chapel Church of Christ. He had an open door for anyone who needed him. He was a good friend to everyone; a really good fellow. He proudly served his country in the United States Army in the Vietnam War with the 82nd Airborne, 505 Brigade, 2nd Battalion.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Edwards; sons and daughters–in-law, Joshua Pate and Valari Davis and Curtis Edwards and Jennifer, all of Lufkin; daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly Graham and Richard of Clawson, Kimberly Pate and William Beal of Maine; Katina Windle and Chris of North Carolina; 17 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; mother, Hallie Edwards of Lufkin; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; and special friend, Marilyn Carlin.
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by brother, James Curtis Edwards; two sisters, Glenda Wilkerson and Ruth Brown; and nephew, “Lizard” Wilkerson.
Pallbearers are Josh Pate, Curtis Edwards, Tod Evans, Samuel Williams, J. T. Williams and Adam Williams.
Honorary pallbearers are Steve Carlin and Ricky Edwards.
Memorial contributions may be offered to Dunn Chapel Church of Christ, 474 Porter Road, Lufkin, TX 75904.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday
evening at Dunn Chapel Church of Christ.
