Kenneth Clayton Cathey, 66, of Pollok, was called home on Tuesday, July 10, 2012. Kenneth was born in Lufkin, Texas on July 15, 1945 to Archie Nolan and Vinell (Nessmith) Cathey. He was married to Mary (Harrell) Cathey on October 12, 1963.
Kenneth worked as a carpenter and a truck driver. He had a servant's heart and enjoyed volunteering at Lufkin First Assembly, especially cooking and driving for the bus ministry. All who knew Kenneth loved him. His life and his love spoke for itself.
Kenneth is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary (Harrell) Cathey of Pollok; daughter and son-in-law, Deneise and John Young of Pollok; daughter, Kendra Cathey of Pollok; grandchildren, Bradley Fondren and wife Amanda, Kaili Fondren, all of Lufkin, and Brandon Hamilton of Pollok; great-grandchildren, Jayson Cole Fondren and Bayley Leighanne Fondren of Lufkin; brother and sister-in-law, Archie T. and Doris Cathey of Pollok; brother, Doyle K. Cathey of Rosharon; sister-in-law, Murleen Beaird and husband, Clyde Brown of Alamo; and his loving nieces, nephews, many other friends and loved ones.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Cathey, Brian Layton, Lucas Young, Barry McKenna, Mike McFarland, Larry Jordan, James Morgan, and Kevin Fontenot.
Services for Kenneth will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 12, 2012 at Redtown Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor Andy Salagaj and Pastor Jeremy Yancey of Lufkin First Assembly will officiate. Interment will follow in the Sand Flat Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
