Mrs. Wallace was a lifelong resident of Lufkin and was a 1952 graduate of Lufkin High School. She graduated from Pineywoods Business College in 1953. She was a secretary for Corbett Transport of Lufkin for over ten years. In 1965, she opened her custom drapery business, Joy Wallace Draperies. Her drapery making talent was well-known throughout the Lufkin area. She and her husband became members of Calvary Baptist Church in 1965. Worshiping the Lord was an essential part of her life and, once she became homebound, she would faithfully watch their church’s service on TV. She and her husband enjoyed chaperoning church trips with their daughters. One of her favorite pastimes was to shop for antiques and attend furniture auctions. Her greatest enjoyment in life was her grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with them, clothes shopping for them, and attending their activities when possible.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Burleson Taylor Wallace; daughters, Charlotte Ann Stephens of Arlington and Cheryl Lynn Wallace of Tyler; grandchildren, Channing, Hunter, Brooke and Jackson Stephens; sister, Prebble Beaird and husband J. L. of Waco; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends.
