Joe Curtis Nettles

Mr. Nettles was born in Livingston, Texas, the son of the late Dora V. (Johnson) and Clyde C. Nettles. He passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2017 after an extended illness at the Pinecrest Nursing Home in Lufkin, Texas.

Mr. Nettles is survived by his wife of forty-nine years, Mary Jean Nettles; son, Gregory Curtis Nettles; daughter, Ladonna Michelle Nettles Garza and son-in-law, David Garza; two granddaughters, Arianna Michelle Garza and Alyssa Marie Garza; sister, Dorothy Nettles Holcomb and husband Don Holcomb; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Billy Terry and Peggy Terry; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother; his brother, Jimmy Wayne Nettles; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John W. Sawyer and Mae Sawyer.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank, Lufkin, TX 75904 or the First Baptist Church, 208 Devereaux Street, Diboll, TX 75941.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 22, 2017 at Gipson Funeral Home.

Services have been placed in the trust of Gipson Funeral Home.
