Services for James Lindell Morton, 84, of Etoile, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 1, 2018, in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Glenn Morton officiating. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, March 1, 2018 in the Grand View Memorial Park in Pasadena, Texas.
Mr. Morton was born May 8, 1933 in Etoile, Texas, the son of the late Lena (Moore) and William Morton. He passed away Sunday, February 25, 2018 in a Lufkin hospice facility.
Mr. Morton was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed wood-working and gardening. He was a past Master of the South Houston A.M. & F.M. Masonic Lodge #1295 and the Scottish Rite. Mr. Morton was retired from the City of Houston, where he was an electrical supervisor for more than 30 years. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1955.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Morton of Etoile; son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Kim Morton of Etoile; grandchildren, Brandon Morton, Brooke Smith, Josh Morton and Kayla Luker; six great-grandchildren; sister, Nell Anger; and a number of other family members.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Morton was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth L. Morton; and his siblings, Edgar Morton, J. B. Morton, Esther Thurman and Melba King.
Pallbearers will be Pat King, Johnny King, Brandon Morton, Josh Morton, Charlie Luse and Eric Luker.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
