James Hardin

Funeral services for James Ray “Jr.” Hardin, 71, of Lufkin, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Roger Justus officiating. Interment will follow at the Berry Cemetery.

James was born March 17, 1952 in Houston, Texas, son to the late Muriel (Coffey) and Louis Hardin. He passed away Friday, May 5, 2023, at a local hospital.

Mr. Hardin loved his grandkids. On his free time, he enjoyed fishing and playing bingo.

Survivors include son, Brian Hardin of Lufkin; daughters and sons-in-law, Ashley and Chris Ivey of Mississippi, and Ariel and Cody Smith of Hudson; grandchildren, Haylee Reynolds, Kelsey Smith, Mason Hardin, Emmitt Smith, and Ryland Smith; brothers, Martin Hardin and David Hardin; and many numerous other relatives.

He was preceded in death by parents; wife, Cynthia Darlene Hardin (2017); and brothers, Louis Wayne Hardin and Gary Hardin.

Pallbearers will be Brian Hardin, Cody Smith, Mason Hardin, Jeffrey Hardin, and Curtis Hardin.

The family will receive friends from noon to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
