Funeral service for Glen “Howard” Maxwell, 89, of Lufkin, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 29, 2023, in the Elwyn Marcus Gipson Chapel at Garden of Memories Memorial Park with Bro. Kent Childres officiating. Interment will follow at graveside.
Glen “Howard” Maxwell, 89, of Lufkin was born June 29, 1933 in Montana, the son of the late Hazel (Davis) and Glen Maxwell. He passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2023 in Pinecrest Methodist Retirement Center in Lufkin, TX.
Howard grew up in Arkansas and graduated at the top of his class from Mena High School. He served in the United States Army from 1947 to 1955. In the army he was an aircraft riveter and received a National Defense Service Medal.
Howard went on to form his own company in Houston, TX specializing in building science labs worldwide. In retirement, he met the love of his life, Rothey “Ann” Maxwell at a dance in Lufkin. They continued to dance through life for over 24 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Joyce Chad of California. He was survived by his wife, Ann Maxwell, stepdaughters Stacey McCarty and husband Bryan, Kristi Golden and husband Trey, all of Lufkin, grandsons Reed McCarty of New Braunfels and Mason McCarty of Lufkin, granddaughters Savannah Haney and husband Patrick of Lufkin and Sarah Lansford and husband Joseph of Ft. Worth, great grandson Baker Haney, brothers, Harry Maxwell and wife Edna, Stanley Maxwell and Donald Maxwell.
Pallbearers will be Bryan McCarty, Trey Golden, Reed McCarty, Mason McCarty, Patrick Haney and Joseph Lansford.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
