George "G W" Nugent

Services for George “G. W.” Nugent, 71, of Lufkin, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, October 13, 2013 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Frank Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Union Cemetery.

Mr. Nugent was born August 7, 1942 in Caldwell Parish, Grayson, Louisiana, the son of the late Elsie (Meredith) and George Nugent. He passed away Thursday, October 10, 2013 in a local hospital.

Mr. Nugent had an exceptionally loving blended family. They spent every summer, holiday and special weekends together. They enjoyed each other, always had plenty of food to eat, and lots of activities going on. He was very humorous and enjoyed hunting (especially wild hogs) and fishing. Mr. Nugent was a member of Cross Road Baptist Church in Grayson, Louisiana.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Nugent of Lufkin; daughters and sons-in-law, Paula and Jon Bazer of Haughton, Louisiana and Lisa and Phillip McKenzie of Bossier City, Louisiana; sons and daughters-in-law, George (Bo) and Stacy Nugent of Coushatta, Louisiana and Eddie and Jamie Davidson of Wasilla, Alaska; daughters, LaDonna Taylor and Teresa Chisolm, both of Lufkin; grandchildren, Jennifer Harvey, Christie Taylor, Angela Tambornino, Elizabeth Berry, Emily Chisolm, Kyle McKenzie and Cole McKenzie; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Carolyn Wyant of Grayson, Louisiana and Ethel Malone of Pineville, Louisiana; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other family members.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Nugent was preceded in death by 2 sisters; 2 brothers; and 1 great-grandson.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
