Memorial services for Edwin D. “Eddie” Thompson, III, 73, of Lufkin, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 6, 2018 in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park, 5205 S. First Street, in the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel, with Chaplain Jones officiating. Inurnment in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park will follow at a later date.
Eddie was born June 6, 1944 in San Antonio, Texas. He passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2018 in a local hospital.
Eddie was a retired pipefitter. He loved his grandchildren and family. He was known as “extremely fast Eddie” and was a “one of a kind” person with a vibrant personality. Eddie had a unique sense of humor and was always ready to have fun. He proudly served his country with the United States Marines during the Vietnam Era. Eddie will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his father, Edwin D. “Tommy” Thompson, Jr. of Pasadena; niece, Edie Jo Burk Cantu of Pasadena; great-nephew, Colin Cantu of Pasadena; his grandchildren that he loved dearly, as well as a host of other relatives and friends, and his beloved Fred.
Eddie was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra McGuire Thompson; mother, Betty Jo (Murray) Thompson; and sister, Betty Murray Thompson Schlabra.
Eddie’s family wishes to extend special thanks to Jimmy Wildowsky for his unconditional service and friendship to Eddie.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until service time Sunday at the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
