Mr. Burnett was born September 9, 1947 in Nacogdoches, Texas, son of the late Lucille (Busby) and Ralph Burnett. He passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2024 in the Baylor Scott and White Medical Center, College Station.
Donald was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved his grandkids and his fur baby, Max. He enjoyed playing golf, and was a very outgoing person. He never met a stranger. While working at the papermill, Donald gained the nickname Gabby. He was a Vietnam Veteran, who proudly served our country in the Army and was a Purple Heart recipient. For over 50 years he was part of the Mason, Scottish Rite Shriner, Lufkin Lodge 669 AF&AM.
Survivors include wife, Janie Burnett of Bryan, TX; sons, Terry Burnett and Karen of Lucas, TX, Troy Burnett and Darla of Huntsville, TX, Jeremy Pinner and Jamie of Brennam, TX; grandchildren, Haley Pinner, Trevor Burnett, Travis Burnett, Kendall Burnett, Tyler Pinner, Summer Pinner, MacKenzie Pinner, Jaxson Pinner, Dillon Faye Burnett; brothers, Bill Burnett, Louie Burnett, Glen Burnett; and sister, Jean Williams.
He was preceded in death by parents; and brothers, John Wayne Burnett, Charlie Burnett, and Kenneth Burnett.
Pallbearers will be Jamie Thompson, Mike Williams, Darren Williams, Chris Currier, and Kenneth Kendrick.
Honorary pallbearer will be Keith Burnett
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
