Services for Dennis Wayne “Booger” Butler, 65, of Lufkin, wre held on Friday, August 30, 2013 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Loyd Thurman officiating. Interment followed in the Whitehouse Cemetery.
Dennis was born October 23, 1947 in DeKalb, Texas, the son of the late Floyd and Roxie Butler. He passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2013 in a local hospital.
Dennis was a devoted husband, dad, granddad, friend, union member and worker. He was married to Paula Butler for 33 years. He loved his Lord, his wife, and his family. He was a Boy Scout and played football at Lufkin High School. He attended Sam Houston State University and Angelina College. Dennis worked at the Lufkin Papermill for 32-1/2 years and Lufkin Industries for 4-1/2 years. He served his country in the United States Army for 2 years. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, hunting, sports, picnics, riding 4-wheelers, and his beloved Peb’s.
Survivors include his wife, Paula Butler; brother and sister-in-law, Morgan and Diane Butler; sister, Kathy Caton; daughter and son-in-law, Shannon and Bill Hull; sons, Royce Boykin, Rodney Boykin and Billy “Wayden” Butler; grandchildren, Trapper Dickey and Sherr’ee Boykin Janeska; great-grandchildren, Emma Rose, Eric Jr., and Diesel Janeska; beloved aunt, Floyce Daniels; and a number of nieces, nephews and other family members.
Pallbearers were Morgan Butler, Larry Joe Moore, Scott Grimm, Robert Casselberry, Royce Boykin and Rodney Boykin.
Honorary pallbearer was Bill Hull.
