Dennis Edward Atkinson, of Lufkin, Texas passed away at a local hospital in Lufkin, on Monday, May 13, 2024. He was 76 years old.
He was born September 14, 1947 to the late Basil Eric Atkinson Jr, M.D and Frances Louise Hall Atkinson. Dennis went on and lived a joyous life.
Dennis enjoyed many things in life. He enjoyed music especially classical, symphony, church music and he loved the church choir singing. Dennis also loved chocolate, bananas, ice cream, soft drinks, shrimp, oysters, tomatoes, even though he was allergic to them and he hated coconut. His favorite song was How Much Was that Doggy in The Window. He would baptize you with his kisses and tell you that he loved you. Dennis had lived at the Lufkin State Supported Living Center until his death and he will be missed there.
He is survived by his siblings: Clarinda (Rinda) Miller and spouse Kenneth from San Antonio, Basil Eric Atkinson III and spouse Darlene, of Lufkin and Amy Atkinson of San Antonio. Also by his nieces and nephews: Shellie Davis and spouse Scott, Michael Davis, Ryan Davis, Mark Laurence Love and spouse Poy, Lanna Love, Dara Love, Malee Love, Sarah Atkinson-Tonar with spouse Remmington, Sinclaire Tonar, Austin and Beau Atkinson, Jeremy Jones and spouse Erin, Claire Jones, Luke Jones, Cody Jones, Lane Jones, Joshua Jones and spouse April, Kaegan Jones, Valerie Voltz Trevor Voltz, Stephanie Ward and spouse James, Hunter Ward, Harper Ward, Rachel Stone and spouse Justin and Aubree Stone
Along with his parents he is also proceeded in death by Grandmother, Ida Hall, Grandparents Basil Eric Atkinson, SR and spouse Mabel
The loved ones that will carry him to his final resting place will be Ken Miller, Eric Atkinson, Austin Atkinson, Scott Davis, Michael Davis and Jeremy Jones
In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the Lufkin State Supported Living Center 6844 US Hwy 69 North, Pollok Texas 78969 in memory, also to the First Presbyterian Church in Lufkin Texas, memory of Dennis.
The celebration of Dennis life will be Wednesday May 22, 2024 at 3:00 P.M. in the Elwyn Marcus Gipson Chapel at the Garden Memorial Park in Lufkin Texas.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at Elwyn Marcus Gipson Chapel at the Garden Memorial Park in Lufkin.
At the request of the family, please wear colorful clothes or his favorite color, which was blue in his memory.
