Funeral service for David Johnson, 76, of Lufkin, will be held at 2 pm on Friday, September 22, 2023, in the Gipson Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Mike Curry officiating. Interment will follow at Berry Cemetery.
Mr. Johnson was born March 5, 1947, son to Jessie Bell (Faulk) and David Luke Johnson. He passed away Saturday, September 16, 2023.
David grew up with a large family. He loved his family very much, his proudest moments in life were, when he married Louise Chisenhall on June 11, 1966 and when his 2 boys were born. Times were hard but his ambition was to have his own mechanic shop. David lived a Godly life, after being a mechanic of his own shop, he was saved and became a deacon of his church. He enjoyed working on tractors, he loved to fish, and taking vacations with friends.
Survivors include mother, Jessie Bell (Faulk); wife, Louise Johnson of Lufkin; son, Kelly Gene Johnson and wife, Donna of Lufkin; grandchildren, Kenton Luke Johnson and James David Johnson; and 5 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by father, David Luke Johnson; and son, Clayton Caril Johnson.
Pallbearers will be Jack Havard, Roy Anderson, Hershel Shoemaker, Frank Lockey, Leon Bridges, and Wayne Price.
Honorary pallbearer will be Louie Lawson.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
