Darlene was born in Galveston, TX, in 1946 and grew up in Lufkin, TX. She attended Stephen F. Austin University and began her professional career as a high school teacher, where she brought her love and knowledge of computers to aspiring students. Despite her love for teaching, Darlene always had an entrepreneurial spirit, and in 1978, she started SCS Management, Inc. SCS grew to be one of the largest HOA management companies in Houston, TX. At its peak, SCS serviced over 100 HOAs and provided jobs for over thirty full-time employees. Darlene received many awards for her business acumen and was both a leader and pioneer in business.
Upon partial retirement, Darlene moved to Galveston, TX, where she made many lifelong friends whom she cherished deeply. Darlene was an avid motorcyclist, dancer, Mahjong player, and world traveler. She loved music, especially Elvis and Willie, in no particular order. Most of all, Darlene loved people. She adored her parents, was a self-proclaimed Daddy’s Girl, and cherished her brother and her enormous circle of friends and family. Darlene was generous beyond words, giving of her time, talent, and resources to anyone in need without question, hesitation, or expectation. Darlene was an Angel, and now she has her wings.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Marjory Sims, and her brother, Tommy Sims
(Diane).
