Cyl Vesta Berry

Cyl Vesta Berry, 94, of Lufkin, was born January 26, 1916 in Moffett, Texas, the son of the late Viola Lenore (Spears) and Thomas Burl Berry. He passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2010 in a local nursing facility.

Mr. Berry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was retired from Southland Paper Mill, where he worked in the forestry department. He was a 1935 graduate of Lufkin High School and attended San Marcos State Teachers College (TX State University), where he met and married his wife. Mr. Berry was a member and deacon of Lufkin's First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 74 years, Voyl Berry of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Bobbie Sue and Dr. William DeLoach of Waco; granddaughter, Cathy Berry of St. Louis; grandsons, Trey DeLoach and wife Dana of Dallas, Scott DeLoach and wife Amy of Manhattan, Kansas and Stephen DeLoach and wife Laura Henderson of Carroboro, North Carolina; 3 great-granddaughters, Vanessa Hoosier, Lauren Mulanax and Tannah DeLoach; 6 great-grandsons, Tyler DeLoach, Zachary DeLoach, Jordan DeLoach, Davis DeLoach, Caleb and Henry DeLoach; and a number of other family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Berry was preceded in death by his son, C. V. Berry, Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be his great-grandsons.

Private graveside services for Mr. Berry will be held in the Berry Cemetery, with Dr. Andrew G. Pittman officiating. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 2, 20107u in the Pinecrest Retirement Community Chapel.
