Carol Gene Rhodes

Funeral service for Carol Gene Rhodes, 84, of Lufkin, will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Gipson Funeral Home with Bro. Gene Hazell officiating. Interment will follow at Fielder Cemetery.

Mr. Rhodes was born April 10, 1940 in Groveton, Texas, son of the late May Belle Rhodes (Price) and Willie Lee Rhodes. He passed away at PineCrest Retirement Community on Tuesday, May 14, 2024.

Carol loved being outdoors, his favorite hobbies were fishing, hunting, and wood working. He also enjoyed traveling and playing dominos. Carol proudly served his country in the Army during the Vietnam Conflict as part of the heavy artillery division.

Survivors include daughter, Carolyn Rhodes of Lufkin; grandson Jeremy Rhodes of Lufkin; special grandson, James Bagwell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Eileen Rhodes (2017); sisters, Deltha Lee Vansau and Mabel Rhodes; and brothers, Leslie Rhodes and Charlie Rhodes.

Pallbearers will be David Rhodes, Greg Rhodes, Chris Moss, Thomas Jernigan , Mike Thomason, and Stanley Temple.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
