Mr. Noble was born August 9, 1934 in Overton, Texas, son to the late Eunice Steed and Lester Wade Noble. He passed away Saturday, January 28, 2023 in Crockett, TX.
Billy grew up and lived in Overton, TX. He graduated valedictorian from Leveretts Chapel High School. After graduating from high school, he attended Stephen F. Austin State University, Nacogdoches, TX and graduated with a Bachelor degree in Arts and Master in Fine Arts.
He met his love, Billie Jean Atkinson at SFA and they married in Nacogdoches and lived in Omaha, Texas where he was a band director at Paul Pewitt High School. He moved to Daingerfield, Texas, where he had an outstanding band at Daingerfield High School and performed at the Cotton Bowl. Gladewater High School was his next school as band director. He had many accomplishments and even took a trip to California and was guest band at Disneyland. He then was a band director at Kilgore High School.
Billy became manager for Brook Mays Music Company, moved to Omaha, Nebraska and was employed by Selmer as regional manager. After retiring from Selmer he moved to Dallas and went into the oil business, where he had several companies, Noble Producing, Noble Energy and S&B. He discovered the Serbin (Taylor Sand) Field. He drilled many wells over the years and later retired.
Billy loved music, it was his passion. He was an amazing band director and enjoyed teaching students for many years. He loved playing his trombone for everyone!
He moved his family to Omaha, NE where they raised their 4 children. He was busy working and spending time with the family. He was either at the motocross races, twirling contest, baseball games, football games or you could find him at the speedway. He enjoyed dancing and had a few moves but really loved listening to Jazz music. You could always find him watching or talking to you about a football game, car races or a motocross race. Billy had many beloved dogs always by his side.
Anyone who knew Billy, knows he was a talker and could tell a good story and could always strike up a conversation with any stranger.
He struggled with health issues for many years and we extend a special thank you to those who cared for and helped him for so long. During his last few days, when Billy was able to speak, he sang a few words of his favorite Willie Nelson song.
You were always on my mind,
You were always on my mind....
