Billie Bryce Wesley, 77, of Huntington, daughter of the late Stella (Brookshire) and William Bryce Matthews, was born June 28, 1935 in Angelina County, Texas and passed away August 2, 2012 in a local hospital.
Mrs. Wesley was a life-long resident of Huntington and she and her husband, G. B., traveled across the United States with his work on the pipeline. She had the gift of creating a loving home wherever they went.
Her passions included her huge extended family, her many friends, the students that she loved over the years and her faith. Mrs. Wesley was still actively teaching at Huntington PRIDE School. She was a member of the Rocky Hill Baptist Church.
Mrs. Wesley is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Carey B. and Joyce Wesley of Etoile; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Valerie Griggs of Dayton, Texas; daughter, Debbie D. Griggs of Copperas Cove, Texas; daughter and son-in-law Lisa D. and Wayne Haglund of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Grady B. (Wes) and Vickie Wesley of Crandall, Texas; grandchildren, Bryan and Carolyn Wesley, Jill and Keith Goodeaux, Jacqui and Hollis Landrum, Philip Griggs, Matthew and Elena Page, Lacey and D. J. Plouff, Jacquelyn and Kevin Block, Jennifer and Darin Bell, Hilary and Stephen Walker, Hayley and Eason Davis, Hunter and Leeanne Haglund, Zachary Wesley, Garrett Wesley; 13 great-grandchildren, and was known as "Memaw" to many others.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, G. B. Wesley; and sister, Lou Jean Weaver.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Wesley, Zachary Wesley, Garrett Wesley, Matt Page, Zachery Page, Hunter Haglund, Donald Chamblee and Scott Stanford.
Contributions to a scholarship in her honor are welcomed at the Huntington Alumni Association, P. O. Box 328, Huntington, TX 75949.
Services for Mrs. Wesley will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 5, 2012 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bobby Russell officiating. Interment will follow in the Sims/Rocky Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
