Funeral services for Betty Jean Oliver, 75, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, January 12, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Ronnie Frankens officiating. Interment will follow in the Gann Cemetery in Lufkin, Texas.
Betty was born June 8, 1947 in Sugarland, Texas to Katherine (Norris) Lambert and Dallas Peden. She was raised by her dad, Dan Lambert Sr. She passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023 at a local hospital.
Betty was a caregiver all her life, and it started when she was young, caring for her younger siblings. When her mother became ill with cancer, she was there to take care of her. She also took care of her children when they were growing up, along with “her papa” husband of 56 years. Betty cared for others by being a sitter for the elderly. Betty was the best friend to all she loved. She loved to visit and drink coffee—lots of coffee! She especially loved her grandkids, and great grandkids. She will be truly missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry Oliver Sr.; daughter, Margaret Alexander and husband Wade; son, Jerry (Bubba) Oliver Jr. and wife Kitty, grandsons, Wade Anthony Alexander and wife Courtney; Daniel Alexander and fiancée Laura Crim, Ashton Oliver, Auston Oliver and fiancée Alice Hamilton; granddaughter, Katie Alexander; great grandchildren, Blake Gunn, Zachary Alexander, Zoe Alexander; sister, Connie Boles and husband Randy; brother, Leroy Peden and wife Betty Lou; sister-in-law, Carole Lambert. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Henry Lambert who passed away in 1994, and Dan Moody Lambert Jr. who passed away in 2018.
Pallbearers will be Wade Anthony Alexander, Daniel Alexander, Ashton Oliver, Auston Oliver and Wade Alexander.
Honorary pallbearer will be Randy Boles.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Momentum Youth Group in care of Greater Love Tabernacle 5319 FM 326 Lufkin, Texas 75901.
Services have been placed in the trust of Gipson Funeral Home.
