She was of the Methodist faith and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Diboll, TX.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, E.H. "Buddy" Bush, Jr., to whom she was married for over 65 years.
Betty moved to Diboll in 1939 with her parents. She graduated from Diboll High School in 1945 as Salutatorian. She attended Isabell's School of Cosmetology in Ft. Worth, TX, then went on to Pineywoods Business College. Later, she received her Realtor's License and, subsequently, her Broker's License. She worked as a Realtor for several years before retiring in 1994.
Betty had many hobbies. She enjoyed reading, oil and tole painting, watching birds, and walking in the woods. She also loved sewing and made many of her children's clothes, including the girls' dance costumes. Once, Buddy felt left out, so she made him a pair of pants.
Survivors include her daughter, Karen Harris and husband Terry of Lufkin; son, Mark Wiley Bush of Lufkin; daughter, Karol Brown and husband Kent of Lufkin; granddaughters, Hannah Harris Murphy of Lufkin, Kassidy Brown Nerrin and husband Pryde of Lufkin, Leslie Brown Baucom of Aledo; grandsons, Caleb Jackson Harris of Lufkin and Drew William Brown of Katy; great-grandsons, Cole and Conner Murphy; her beloved sister, Dixie Lee Welch of Lufkin; nephew, Wes Welch; and cousins, Glen Wallace and Carl Wallace and wife Cathy of Lufkin.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Hospice in the Pines for the loving care they provided to Betty. God bless you all!
Visitation will be held Friday, January 3, 2024, at 10 am at the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel at the Garden of Memories in Lufkin, TX, with funeral services officiated by Rev. Cindy Doran to follow at 11 am.
