He was born January 14, 1923 in Angelina County, Pollok, TX. He was
employed by Exxon Oil Company of Houston for 38 years. He was a faithful member of Falvey Memorial Methodist Church of Wells, TX and a lifetime member of VFW of Lufkin, TX. He served in the United States Army as a medic. He earned a Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Oak Leaf Cluster. When he retired from his job with Exxon, he raised vegetables as a hobby and gave to his friends and family. He loved calling the shut-ins and other friends on a regular basis. He also loved dancing and joined a line dance club in Lufkin for almost 25 years.
On November 8, 1958, he married Billie L. (Griffin) Jordan and enjoyed 51 1/2 years of marriage.
He was preceded in death by his mom and dad, Daisy Oneta and Ross Jordan and brothers, Cecil Jordan, Buren Jordan, Hugh Jordan and sister, Opal Few.
He is survived by his wife, Billie L. Jordan; daughter, Nadine Patricia Chaney of Springville, AL; son Michael H. Jordan and daughter-in-law, Melissa of Lufkin, TX; sister, Naomi Greenville of Lufkin; grandchildren, David W. Chaney, Scott Chaney, Judy Bryant, Charity Harrison, Hope McNab, all of Springville, AL, Hollin Jordan, Aaron and Natalie Jordan of Lufkin, TX; 7 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gene and Juanita Griffin of Monterey, CA; and sister-in-law Audrey and her husband, Clyde Robinson; and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
Services will be held Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joe Beran and Rev. Jamie Lea officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Wells, TX. Visitation will be Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Gipson Funeral Home.
