
John J. Paige, 80 passed away Saturday June 14, 2014 at Springfield Hospital. He was born in Ludlow, VT July 21, 1933 the son of George and Gladys (Carter) Paige. He graduated from Black River High School Class of 1951 and graduated from the University of Vermont with a B.S in Education on Oct. 15, 1955.
John served in the United States Army, 1st Armored Division from 1955 to 1958 as an Intelligence Specialist. John earned his Master’s Degree in Education from Keene state College in 1976.
He taught math at Springfield Junior High for 30 years from 1955 to 1985. He also raised and sold Christmas Trees. He enjoyed outdoor activities including hunting and fishing, and was a Master Fly Tyer. He was an avid reader and attended many national math seminars and summer school. John also served as a Cemetery commissioner and Health officer for the town of Ludlow.
He is survived by his sister and her husband, Gladys “Bunny” and Richard Strong as well as numerous Nieces and Nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11:00 am at the Church of the Annunciation, Ludlow VT. Graveside committal services and burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery, Ludlow.
