Dorothy “Dot” Stocker, 87 slipped down the Bunny Hole peacefully July 10, 2017 at the Gill Odd Fellows Home, Ludlow. She was born on April 1, 1930 daughter of Frank and Vera (Johnson) Lewis. Dot grew up in Cuttingsville. She met Russell Stocker and they were married on Dec. 21, 1948. They were married for 67 years when he passed away on Feb. 27, 2015. After they married they lived in Healdville for a time and then moved to Ludlow where they bought their farm. She was a housewife until the kids were in school and then worked at the Hot Lunch Program in Ludlow. She loved working and seeing all of the kids everyday. She did this for many years and then went on to being a custodian at night. She still was a substitute for Hot Lunch when needed. Dot also worked at the Ludlow Post Office. She was a hard worker all of her life.
She was a one of a kind person. She always had a new joke to tell and loved to make people laugh. Everybody that knew her loved her. She would do anything for anyone.
Her greatest love was her family. She loved spending time with the grandchildren and taking them shopping. She usually had a couple grandkids overnight on the weekends. The house was always busy with family and friends. She also enjoyed cookouts in the summer. This last year with her failing health she loved going out to lunch with her daughters. She looked forward to getting out as much as she could even just for a ride. She loved to cook. When she made her famous raised donuts the kids in the neighborhood would smell them and stop by for a treat. She did a lot of baking and cooking. She always wanted to cook a big Sunday dinner for the family. She always said, “We don’t eat to live, we live to eat”
Her hobby was reading which she enjoyed all of her life.
She is survived by her four children; Nancy and her husband Jim of Ludlow, Randy & Debby of Cavendish, Rick and his wife of Springfield and Peggy Taylor of Mt. Holly. She also leaves 6 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren whom she loved very much. She was predeceased by her husband, her parents and brothers, Arlo and Robert Lewis and son-in-law Kenneth Taylor.
