unexpectedly at home on Saturday, November 19, 2011. She was born in Springfield, MA
on October 19, 1939, daughter of Francis M. and Anne (Shea) Smith.
Nancy was a graduate of Commerce High School with the class of 1957,
and American International College in 1959.
Mrs. Collins was employed as an executive secretary at John H. Breck,
Inc. on Dwight Street in Springfield, MA. She married John J. "Jack"
Collins, Jr. on September 30, 1961. In 1965, she and her husband were
transferred to Wayne, New Jersey before coming to Ludlow in 1972. She
was a communicant of the Church of the Annunciation, in Ludlow, where
she embraced with fervor Christ's spirit of love and respect for all
people. She enjoyed traveling and meeting people from many different
vocations in life.
Nancy cherished being with family and many friends, and always left
people feeling better for having interacted with her. In addition to
her husband, Jack, she is survived by two sons, John J. "Jack"
Collins, III of Ludlow, VT; and Peter F. Collins and his wife, Raye Lin of Mt.
Holly; two daughters, Susan A. DeVarney and her husband James of
Austin, Texas; and Margaret A. Ferro and her husband Richard of
Milton, VT; and her six grandchildren: Melissa and Patrick DeVarney,
Alyssa, Kateri and Morgan Collins, and Michael Ferro; and several
nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Adams Funeral Home, 12 Meadow Street, Ludlow, VT on Friday, November 25, 2011 from 5 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. A Mass of
Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Church
of the Annunciation in Ludlow. Burial will follow in Pleasant View
Cemetery.
