Wilma was born to W.R. and Gussie Adams on August 14, 1923 and married
the love of her life, best friend and partner Lt. Colonel Leo L. Huckabay. They were the proud parents of their only son, Leo Lane Huckabay Jr. They were well traveled, living throughout the United States, Germany and England before moving back to Lubbock, living a happy and loving full life together of 68 years. Wilma has been a long time active member of Lubbockview Christian Church, a volunteer of 18 years to Highland Hospital an avid tennis player and bowler. She was a great conversationalist and liked to play cards. Wilma loved spending time around the table and was very close with her siblings and their families, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was always proud of her family. Her positive outlook on life and the joy and happiness she brought to every occasion has inspired us all. She will be dearly missed by her loving family and friends who she has touched over the many years.
She was preceded by her beloved son, Leo L. Huckabay Jr., grandson Robert L. Huckabay of Virginia, and brother Winston Lee Adams of Lubbock.
She is survived by her husband, Leo L. Huckabay; grandchildren Bonnie Nortz, Patrick Huckabay and Stacy Hall of Virginia; her sister Peggy Johnson; brother Weldon Adams and wife Dorothy of Lubbock; brother Fred Adams and wife Wanda of Lubbock; six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 19, 2010 at Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel, 5740 W. 19th Street, Lubbock TX. Please join us in celebrating Wilma’s life by visiting her memorial at www.resthavenfuneralhome.com.
